Christine Hannemann

Christine Hannemann (* 1960 in Berlin ) is a German sociologist and professor for architectural and residential sociology at the University of Stuttgart .

Life

Hannemann first studied law and then graduated in sociology from the Humboldt University in Berlin . In 1994 she completed her doctorate at the Technical University of Berlin on the subject of "Industrialized Building: On the Continuity of a Model in Housing Construction in the GDR ". After completing his dissertation, Hannemann worked in the urban and regional sociology department at HU Berlin from 1994 to 2011. In 2003 she completed her habilitation with a thesis on the future prospects of small towns in Germany - "Marginalized Cities - Problems, Differentiations and Opportunities" and received the license to teach sociology.

Since 2011, Hannemann has held the professorship for the subject of "Sociology of Architecture and Living" at the Institute for Living and Design in the Faculty of Architecture and Urban Planning at the University of Stuttgart , the only chair for this subject in Germany.

Research priorities

Hannemann's main research interests include changes in living, urbanity (s) as a way of life, small town research and architecture as a profession and as a field of empirical social research .

Publications

Hannemann has published numerous monographs , articles and articles in magazines, articles in anthologies and is co-editor of the “Jahrbuch StadtRegion”.

Memberships

Hannemann is a member of the German Society for Sociology (DGS) and the Section Urban and Regional Sociology (1st spokesperson from 2005-2008), a member of the (ARL) Academy for Spatial Research and Regional Planning - Leibniz Forum for Spatial Sciences and the Society for Urban History and Urbanization Research (GSU). of the German Academy for Urban Development and Regional Planning (DASL) and extraordinary member of the Association of Architects (BDA) Berlin. She is a reviewer for the DFG ( German Research Foundation ) and the SNSF ( Swiss National Science Foundation ). She is also a member of various juries for architecture, town planning and urban planning awards at the federal level.
