Life

Christine Macel has been chief curator of the Center Pompidou in Paris since 2000 . Art - The art magazine writes that Macel stands there "for courageous and extravagant exhibitions of formally uncompromising artists. From Sophie Calle and Philippe Parreno to John Bock and Gabriel Orozco - she worked with all of them without making concessions to the public".

Macel also includes contemporary issues in her exhibitions, such as B. the gentrification and the associated change of the city as in 2007 in "Airs de Paris". Another exhibition was devoted to the non-official art of the Eastern European countries behind the Iron Curtain from 1956. An important subject is also the dance of the 20th and 21st centuries and its points of contact with art, such as in the group exhibition Danser sa Vie 2011 With her appointment as curator of the 57th Biennale di Venezia by Biennale President Paolo Baratta , she is only the fourth woman in this position. Christine Macel would like to lead the audience on a "course" through nine "trans pavilions", each of which has its own chapter.
