The Christkönigkirche is a church building in Ravensburg in Baden-Württemberg . The church is located in the Ravensburg Südstadt. The parish belongs to the pastoral care unit Ravensburg Mitte in the diocese of Rottenburg-Stuttgart .

History and architecture

The hall church with a side aisle was built in 1952 according to plans by the master builder Franz Hepp. The tower is 33 meters high. The church was consecrated on October 26, 1952 by Bishop Carl Joseph Leiprecht . The choir was renovated in 2001 and redesigned by Hubert Elsässer . It was important to him that, in contrast to the rectangular nave, round shapes dominate. The upper choir level was connected to the floor of the ship by a round arrangement of the steps. The altar, with its square shape on the outside and round on the inside, became the center of the church. The idea of connecting table and sacrificial stone is to be realized in it. The play of colors with dark and light marble is intentional. The wall frescoes are works by Elsässer's daughter Julia Elsässer-Eckert. The glass windows were made from 1952 to 1966 according to designs by the glass artist Wilhelm Geyer .
