Christo Watschew

Christo Watschew ( Bulgarian Христо Вачев ; scientific transliteration : Hristo Vačev ; born January 7, 1950 in Pleven , Bulgaria ) is a Bulgarian painter.

Life

Watschew is a member of the Union of Bulgarian Artists, the International Academy of Contemporary Art of the Kingdom of Belgium , the Art Council Kukusai, von Bijutsu Chingikai (Japan), the AIAP UNESCO (Paris, France) and the Museum of the Americas (USA, Florida). It was entered in the Golden Book of the Paris Autumn Salon in 1992 and in the Golden Book of the International Academy of Contemporary Art in Belgium in 1993. His paintings are exhibited in the National Art Gallery in Sofia, the Gallery for Contemporary Art in Berlin and the Art Gallery in Osaka, as well as in private collections in Austria, Argentina, Belgium, Germany, Greece, the USA, France and Japan. He had 30 solo exhibitions at home and abroad.

Works (selection)

Christo Watschew's paintings “Poetic Dance” and “Notre Dame de Paris” are included in the catalog of the Silver Book of Authors of the Museum of the Americas, which is dedicated to the 25th anniversary of the museum based in Miami, USA.

Prizes and awards

  • 1993 - Gold medal and diploma in painting at the 8th AIAC Grand Prix in Belgium
  • 1994 - Platinum medal and diploma in painting of the IX. Grand Prix AIAC in Belgium
  • 1995 - Gold medal, diploma in painting, gold plaque and honorary doctorate from the Academy of Contemporary Art in Belgium
  • 1995 - Doctor Honoris Causa of the Belgian Academy of Contemporary Art.
  • 1996 - Diploma and jury award from Artkouncil Kukusai, Bijutsu Chingikai, Japan
  • 2007 - Gold medal and diploma in painting at the Grand Prix AIAC in Belgium

In 2004 he was declared an Honored Citizen of Pleven by resolution No. 279 of the City Council.
