The Christoph-Probst-Realschule is one of two Realschulen in Neu-Ulm . The school was named after the resistance fighter Christoph Probst .
description
The school was founded in 1959 as the “Staatliche Realschule Neu-Ulm”, initially without permanent accommodation. The classrooms were spread over four buildings in the city. After years in the premises of today's technical college , the school moved into its current quarters. In 2017 the school had 631 students.
Lessons are offered in four elective subject groups: Mathematics, Economics, French and Art. In grades 5 and 6 the school has one choir class each. The school takes part in the compass project of the Bavarian Ministry of Culture. This includes differentiated lessons in German and English in grades 5 and 6 as well as bilingual lessons in history in grade 8. In addition, the secondary school is a model school for the Bavaria-wide Sprint project , which gives children and young people with a refugee and migration background the opportunity to graduate from secondary school to reach.
In 2016 the school was awarded a prize for "extracurricular activities" in the administrative district of Swabia . Among other things, the commitment to refugees was recognized.
Others
Since the sports hall of the school has long been known as "Hall in Muthenhölzle" at Neu-Ulm's sports clubs, a different name had to be found for the triple gymnasium under construction in Muthenhölzle. The decision was made in favor of the former Neu-Ulm baker and confectioner Gustav Benz (1854–1927), who, in his 19 years as a local politician, was committed to building the first Neu-Ulm gymnasium.
