Christoph (Metropolitan)

Christoph (born June 29, 1953 in Prague as Radim Pulec ) is Archbishop of Prague and was Metropolitan of the Orthodox Church of the Czech Lands and Slovakia until April 12, 2013 .

Pulec was ordained a deacon on November 11 and a priest on December 25, 1974. In 1985 he was accepted into the Trinity Monastery of Sergiev Posad and gave himself the religious name Christoph. In 1987 he was appointed Archimandrite and served at the Church of St. Cyril and Method in Prague. In 1988 he was ordained bishop and he was elected Bishop of Olomouc and Brno. On May 28, 2006, Christoph, who had been Archbishop of Prague since 2000 , succeeded Nikolaj in the office of Metropolitan of the Czech Republic and Slovakia. He resigned on April 12, 2013 after he was accused of breaking his vows. Christoph named the reason for his resignation as the need to preserve the unity of the church. He denied the allegations made against him.
