Christoph Effinger
Christoph (I.) Effinger (von Wildegg) (* 1487 probably in Wildegg ; † 1551 ibid) was a Swiss aristocrat.
In 1513, Christoph Effinger took over the castle and lordship of Wildegg after the death of his father, Kaspar Effinger , the founder of the Wildegger line . From 1521–1524 he served as a mercenary in the service of the Pope and the French King Franz I. Around 1535 he had a dispute with the city of Bern , in which he resisted the fact that his competencies , which were lordly twingies, were diminished. He was married to Margarita Muntprat von Spiegelberg , who was the daughter of the Konstanzer Schultheissen Jakob. The son of the same name Christoph (II.) Effinger (* 1531; † August 1584) emerged from the marriage.
