Christoph Froschauer the Younger (* 1532 ; † 1585 ) was a Zurich printer , publisher and bookseller.

Life

He was the nephew of the book printer Christoph Froschauer in Zurich , who had made a name for himself primarily through printing Zwingli'sZurich Bible ”. After the death of his uncle in 1564, he continued to run the print shop on Froschaugasse.

As a member of the Zurich Council, Froschauer saw the bird's eye view of the colored painting of the city of Zurich, which the cartographer Jos Murer had painted for the city, around 1574 . He recognized the potential of the picture and arranged for it to be printed and sold. There is no longer a copy of the first edition of the Murer Plan from 1576.
