Christoph Steegmans

Christoph Steegmans (born April 10, 1971 in Essen ) is a German journalist and has been the spokesman for the Federal Ministry for Family, Seniors, Women and Youth since September 12, 2011 .

Life

After graduating from high school in Essen in 1990, Steegmans studied history , political science and constitutional law in Bonn and Berlin and completed his master's degree in 1995. In 1999 he was awarded a Dr. phil is doing his doctorate.

Alongside his studies, Steegmans worked as a freelancer for the Neue Ruhr-Zeitung and the Bonner General-Anzeiger, among others . 1996–1997 he worked in the parliamentary office of Guido Westerwelle . 1999–2001 he was press officer of the FDP general secretary and 2001–2006 deputy spokesman for the FDP . In 2006 he was appointed press spokesman and head of the press office of the FDP parliamentary group .

From October 2009 to the beginning of September 2011 he was Deputy Spokesman for the Federal Government and Deputy Head of the Federal Government's Press and Information Office .

Since September 12, 2011 he has been the spokesman for the Federal Ministry for Family, Seniors, Women and Youth under Minister Kristina Schröder . From this position he changed at the beginning of 2014 in the same ministry to the position of sub-department head for engagement policy.

Steegmans is married and has two children.
