Christophe Berdos

Christophe Berdos (* 17th April 1970 in Tarbes ) is a professional French rugby union - referee . He directs games in the French leagues and also international matches on behalf of World Rugby .

Berdos has been a referee since 1988, at the highest national level since 2000. He made his international debut in 2003 at the U-19 World Cup. He led the first test match in 2006 between Tonga and Samoa . At the 2007 World Cup in France, he was used in five group games, in another game as a video referee. As the main referee in an important international tournament, he first worked at the Six Nations 2008 , in the game between Ireland and Scotland .

The Ligue Nationale de Rugby , which is responsible for the operation of the two top French leagues, named Berdos 2008, 2009 and 2010 as referee of the year. In 2009 he took part in an exchange program and directed two games in the Guinness Premiership , the highest English league. In 2010 he led the final game of the French championship Top 14 for the first time . By the end of the 2011/12 season, Berdos was the main referee in 150 French first division championship games, in 50 matches in the Heineken Cup and in 20 games in the European Challenge Cup , plus 40 international matches.
