Christopher Heaton-Harris (* 28. November 1967 in Epsom , Surrey ) is a British politician of the Conservative Party .

Life

Heaton-Harris attended Wolverhampton Polytechnic . He was a member of the European Parliament from 2004 to 2009 . He has been an MP for Daventry in the House of Commons since 2010 . From June 2017 to January 2018 he was Deputy Chamberlain , then Comptroller of the Household until July 2018 , and then State Secretary in the Ministry for Leaving the European Union . He resigned from this post on April 3, 2019. He justified this by saying that he could not support a postponement of the exit, as Prime Minister Theresa May had announced the previous evening .

Heaton-Harris is married with two children.
