Christopher Purves
Christopher Purves (born 1960 in Cambridge ) is an English opera singer ( bass baritone ).
life and work
Purves sang from 1997 to 2004 in various Opera North productions . He has performed with The Sixteen and has an extensive discography. He sang the 2004 Figaro in English and was one of the soloists of the Lamenti recitals (Virgin Classics), which in 2009 Victoires de la musique classique as Record of the Year award. He took on the role of Protector in the world premiere of George Benjamin's opera Written on Skin in 2012 and the role of Walt Disney in Philip Glass ' The Perfect American in 2013 . In 2016 he was the bass in Beethoven's ninth at the Proms and then sang Don Giovanni at the English National Opera .
