Christopher Stell (guitarist)

Christopher "Chris" Stell is a British guitarist and music teacher.

Life

Stell studied guitar with Michael Lewin at the Royal Academy of Music . While still a student, he founded the Eden Stell Guitar Duo with Mark Eden in 1989 . With a scholarship from the Worshipful Company of Musicians, both completed their training with the Brazilian guitar duo Sergio and Odair Assad in Brussels.

The duo have performed in Lane Group's Young Artists 'Concert Series , won the South East Musicians' Platform competition , performed with the Prague Chamber Orchestra and the International Philharmonic Orcheestra, and participated in the Guitar Foundation of America (2009) concerts Omni Foundation Concert Series in San Francisco (2010), the London Guitar Festival (2008-9) and the Alla Grande Festival in Canada (2009). Composers such as Stephen Dodgson , Adam Gorb , Dušan Bogdanović , Gary Ryan and Johannes Möller wrote for the duo, and several CDs have been released on the labels BSG , Hannsler Classics and Docker .

In 2000, Stell was named an Honorary Associate of the Royal Academy of Music . He is Artistic Director of the Mosaic Guitar Ensemble and founded the Vida Guitar Quartet with Eden in 2007 . He teaches guitar at the Royal College of Music .
