Christopher John Suenson-Taylor, 3rd Baron Grantchester (born April 8, 1951 ) is a British peer and Labor politician.

Personal

He is the son of 2nd Baron Grantchester , and Lady Grantchester (née Betty Moores) and went to Winchester College , where he was a member of the football team. He studied at the London School of Economics , where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in economics.

Lord Grantchester married Jacqueline Jaffé in 1973; they have two sons and two daughters.

Business and charitable engagement

Littlewoods

Lord Grantchester is the maternal grandson of John Moores, the founder of the former department store chain Littlewoods . He is a former director of Littlewoods. According to a 2007 Sunday Times list of the richest Britons, his family is worth £ 1.2 billion.

Soccer

For years he was chairman of the football club Everton FC. In a list of the football magazine FourFourTwo he was regularly listed as he owns 8% of Everton. In December 2000 he left the Everton board of directors. He is a trustee of the Foundation for Sport and the Arts . He is also trustee of the David France Collection , the world's largest collection of football memorabilia.

Dairy farming

Lord Grantchester runs a dairy farm near Crewe in Cheshire. He is the chairman of the South West Cheshire Dairy Association . He was on the board of one of the UK's largest dairy companies, Dairy Farmers of Britain , which serve about 10% of the UK milk market.

House of Lords

In 1995 he inherited the title of Baron Grantchester from his father . The title was linked to a hereditary seat in the House of Lords , which he lost again in 1999 through the reform of the House of Lords Act 1999 . In 2003 he was re-elected to the House of Lords in a Labor Party by-election. He took the seat of the late Arthur Milner, 2nd Baron Milner of Leeds .
