Christos Katzidis

Christos Georg Katzidis (born September 30, 1969 in Düsseldorf ) is a German CDU politician and has been a member of the North Rhine-Westphalia state parliament since May 14, 2017 . He is the domestic political spokesman for the CDU parliamentary group and was a member of the Parliamentary Committee of Inquiry (PUA) “ Amri Case ” until July 10, 2019 . Since July 10th, he has been a member of the PUA "Child Abuse", which deals with abuse cases in Lügde. He is also a full member of the Sports Committee and the Budgetary Control Committee. In terms of party politics, he has been the district chairman of the CDU in Bonn since 2013.

Life

Christos Georg Katzidis comes from a working class family with Greek roots on his father's side. He spent the first years of his life in Düsseldorf before moving to Bonn-Duisdorf with his parents at the age of ten . There he reached the secondary school leaving certificate and after changing to the higher commercial school made his technical diploma.

Katzidis began training for the middle police force at the North Rhine-Westphalia police in April 1991. In October 1993 he finished this and was appointed police chief. He worked in the personal and property protection service at the Bonn Police Headquarters. In April 1995 he moved to the Rhein-Erft district, to the Hürth police station. There he worked on patrol duty. He then began studying at the University of Applied Sciences for Public Administration in North Rhine-Westphalia (FHöV NRW) in September 1997 and graduated in August 1999 with a degree in administrative management and police commissioner.

After completing his studies, he worked at the police stations in Brühl and Wesseling as a security guard and duty group leader in his management functions until August 2002 . In September 2002 he switched to the Police Training Institute in Brühl for a year, where he worked as a trainee teacher. From August 2003 to September 2005 he worked for the criminal police at the Hürth police station . In 2005 he was approved for promotion to the higher police force. 

In October 2005 he went to Münster to study. In September 2007 he was appointed to the Police Council upon graduation. In his first assignment in the higher service, he was the head of the investigation service in the police station south in the Märkisches Kreis . At the same time he was head of a staff unit and permanent representative of the head of inspection. 

After Katzidis had already worked as a lecturer at the FHöV NRW in the field of forensics in 2009 and 2010, he switched there completely in August 2010 and was a full-time lecturer for constitutional law, operational theory and intervention law until August 2015. In September 2015 he returned to the Bonn Police Headquarters and was head of the department for personnel matters, training and advanced training until the state election.

In 2015, Katzidis was temporarily employed as a lecturer at the Federal University of Applied Sciences in the department of the Federal Police and the Federal Criminal Police Office. There he taught in the field of constitutional law and politics in the summer semester.

After Katzidis obtained his Master of Arts in Public Administration and Police Management in June 2010, he applied to the doctoral committee of the German Police University for admission to the doctorate in October 2010. Two years later, in October 2012, he applied for admission to the examination procedure. After successfully completing the entire doctoral procedure and the oral examination, the German Police University awarded him the degree of "Doctor of Administrative Sciences (Dr. rer. Publ.)" In 2014.

The title of his dissertation was: The legal framework in connection with police officers who no longer meet the special health requirements of the police force .

Political career

Katzidis joined the CDU in Bonn in 2009. From 2010 to 2014 he was chairman of the CDU Hardtberg . At the district level, he was deputy district chairman in 2011 and chairman of the CDU in Bonn from 2013. In the 2014 local elections, Katzidis ran as a city councilor in the Duisdorf / Finkenhof / Lengsdorf district and won the direct mandate. He resigned from the council in July 2019. In the City Council of Bonn he was committee chairman in the sports committee, member of the integration council, member of the board of trustees of the sports foundation, deputy member of the school, finance and operations committee and deputy chairman of the baths project advisory board. Katzidis achieved in the state election in North Rhine-Westphalia in 2017 on 14 May 2017 as a direct candidate in the II Parliament constituency Bonn the feed as a deputy in the Parliament of North Rhine-Westphalia .

His political priorities are homeland security, education and sport / health management.
