Christ and the seven shops

The book “ Christ and the Seven Shops ” belongs to the late medieval educational literature of edification , in which Jesus Christ in the role of a merchant brings a hermit who wants to “return to the world” back on the right path. The seven “delicious shops”, the goods that Christ offers, stand for the Christian virtues, for the seven Beatitudes according to the Gospels .

The text has been handed down in over 30 German-language manuscripts.
