Christ Church (Omsk)

The Christ Church in the western Siberian city ​​of Omsk is a house of God with an attached event and meeting center and guest house of the parish.

The community belongs to the Evangelical Lutheran Church of the Urals, Siberia and the Far East , which has its seat in the Christ Church Center. The brick building, inaugurated in 1994, is one of the first new churches in Russia since the October Revolution .

The Christ Church, designed by the Göttingen architect Hansjochen Schwieger, was awarded 3rd prize in the 1996 All-Russian Architectural Competition in Moscow. The construction costs of the equivalent of 2.5 million euros were raised from federal and church funds. The Evangelical Lutheran Regional Church of Hanover , which signed a partnership contract with ELKUSFO in 2002, committed itself to maintenance.

The parish has had a Russian-speaking pastor since 2003. There are both German and Russian-language church services, Bible studies and German courses.

On October 24, 2010, the inauguration of Bishop Otto Schaude took place in the Christ Church in the presence of the Russian Orthodox Metropolitan of Omsk.
