Christ Church (Hasbergen)
The Christ Church is the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Hasbergen .
Originally belonging to the parishes of St. Katharinen and St. Marien in Osnabrück , the towns of Hasbergen, Gaste, Ohrbeck, Hellern links der Düte, Natrup-Hagen, Gellenbeck and Sudenfeld were combined in 1898 to form a separate parish based in Hasbergen. It was not until 1951 that it was named Christ Church Community .
Services initially took place in the old school on Roten Berg. As early as 1899 the foundation stone was laid for the construction of a church, which was consecrated on the 1st of Advent in 1901. The church is neo-Gothic with wide central and side aisles and a massive west tower that is almost 50 meters high. In the approx. 9.5 × 9.5 m crossing, the ship measures around 13 meters in height.
A special feature of the church is the building material used, so-called "hut stones" made from cement-bound slag from the nearby Georgsmarienhütte . The vaults were made of sintered pumice, which also comes from Georgsmarienhütte . However, the processing led to a strong need for renovation and, after a temporary closure in the 1960s, to a basic repair of the building, during which the interior was also restructured. A Tyrolean altar crucifix (around 1580) was procured for the furnishings.
The three steel bells of the peal were re-cast on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the church in 1951. In 1975 the church received a new organ, built by Orgelbau Kreienbrink , Osnabrück .
