Chromogranins

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Chromogranins ( English chromogranins ) describe a group of acidic proteins that were first found in vesicles of adrenaline and noradrenaline- producing cells of the adrenal medulla and that, together with ATP (see nucleotides ) and magnesium ions , are said to be involved in the storage of these substances within vesicles.

Studies have shown that chromogranins, as so-called secretogranins, are at least also involved in the vesicular storage of peptides in neurons and hormonal glands .
