The Chronos Media GmbH is a Potsdamer film production company and a footage archive and is the largest independent private film archive in Germany. Business areas are primarily the distribution of historical film footage (35 and 16 mm) and the production of documentary films . The place of business is Potsdam- Babelsberg . The inventory comprises several million meters of documentary film material from the turn of the century to the present day. The film material was bought and exchanged worldwide. The Chronos Collection (see Chronos-Film GmbH ), the Axelbank Collection and the Fischer Archive are part of the archive as well as smaller private collections.
Chronos Media was founded in 2001 by Konstantin von zur Mühlen and emerged from Chronos-Film GmbH.
Chronos-Film GmbH
The Chronos-Film GmbH was founded in 1961 by Bengt von zur Mühlen established (1932-2016). These archive holdings are the result of almost three and a half decades of research, collection and preservation activities by the filmmakers Bengt and Irmgard von zur Mühlen (* 1936) and are now distributed by Chronos Media.
Awards
- The first Chronos film "Test for the West - Berlin" ( Franz Baake , director, and Jost von Morr , commentary) was awarded a Silver Bear at the Berlin Film Festival and dubbed in 18 languages.
- “ Battle for Berlin ” (1974) and “The Yellow Star” (1981) were nominated for an Oscar in the full-length documentary category, while the films “ Flight and Expulsion ” and “The Women of July 20” were awarded the Golden Camera .
