Chrysorithrum flavomaculata is a butterfly ( moth ) fromthe owl butterfly family (Noctuidae). The specific epithet is based on the Latin word elements flavo and macula with the meanings "yellow" and "spot" and refers to the drawing of the upper side of the hind wing.

The wingspan of the moth is 50 to 56 millimeters. Your forewing upper side shows silvery brown tones. Both the basal and the discal region are colored black-brown and bordered by strongly jagged transverse lines. The apex is also black-brown. The dark kidney flaw stands out only indistinctly. The upper side of the hind wing has a yellow color, a wide black fringe, a likewise black, straight central band and a gray-brown root field.

Similar species
The butterflies of the ribbon types ( Catocala ) with yellow hind wings and wide black band, for example the yellow ribbon ( Catocala fulminea ), Catocala diversa , Catocala conversa or Catocala nymphagoga differ in the lighter upper side of the forewing as well as the wavy or kinking black central ribbon and the yellow root field the upper side of the hind wing.
distribution and habitat
The distribution area of Chrysorithrum flavomaculata extends from the South Urals through Asia and the Ussuri and Amur regions to Japan . The species occurs in mixed forests and wetlands.
Way of life
The nocturnal, univoltine moths can be found between June and July. You visit artificial light sources . Details on the species' way of life have yet to be researched.
