from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Chu Bong-Foo ( 朱 邦 復 , Zhū Bāngfù ; * 1937 ) is the inventor of the CangJie input method for Chinese characters on computers . Because of his invention in 1976 he is often referred to as the "father of Chinese data processing" because his input method made available as public domain has accelerated the computerization of the Chinese cultural area.

CangJie, like the newer Wubi input scheme, is based on the shape of the characters, whereas today pronunciation-based methods are more common.
