Chucho Martínez Gil

Chucho Martínez Gil (aka Jesús Bojalil Gil ; born December 19, 1917 in Heroica Puebla de Zaragoza ; † May 22, 1988 ) was a Mexican singer and composer.

The son of a Lebanese immigrant began his musical career in 1934 on a concert tour with Gonzalo Curiel . His first successful compositions were the waltz Ensoñación and Dos arbolitos , a song that was also recorded by various singers outside of Mexico. Other compositions were Río cristal , Mañana vendrás , Rosita se está bañando , Te vi llegar , Un recuerdo, mi Magdalena , El pocito de Nacaquinia , Llegó el amor , Esclavo , Pimpollo , A bailar Cha Cha Cha , Terroncito terroncito , Me duele el corazón , Cinco letras que lloran , Menos que nada , El naranjo , Te seguiré , Ya me voy lejos , Saudades Do Brasil , El escapulario and La flor . Some of his works were created in collaboration with his cousins Pablo and Carlos Martínez Gil .

He has received numerous awards. Among other things, the Sociedad de Autores y Compositores de Música (SACM) awarded him the Medalla Agustín Lara , the Club de Leones de Monterrey with an honorary diploma, and the city of Misantla awarded him honorary citizenship. As a musician, his brothers were Alfredo and Felipe Gil known.
