Chuj (other spellings: Chuh, Czuj, Chuje, Chuhe, IPA : [ ʧuːx ]) is a language from the Mayan family that is spoken in Guatemala and Mexico .

There are two related languages called chuj :

  • San Mateo Ixtatán Chuj (Chuj de San Mateo Ixtatán, Ixatan Chuj) - it is estimated that over 22,000 people speak the language in Guatemala and over 9,000 people in Mexico
  • San Sebastián Coatán Chuj (Chuj de San Sebastián Coatán, South Chuj) - it is estimated that over 19,000 people speak the language in Guatemala
