Manuscript of the spring and autumn annals

The spring and autumn annals ( Chinese  春秋 , Pinyin Chūnqiū , Kor. 춘추 Chunchu , Japanese春秋Shunjū ), less common, however, is the historical name Línjīng ( 麟 經  /  麟 经 ), are one of the five classics that are ascribed to Confucius .

However, it is uncertain whether the work was actually compiled by Confucius himself.

meaning

It is the official chronicle of the state of Lu in the period from 722 BC. Chr. To 481 BC BC and is the oldest extant Chinese text, which is based on the principle of annals . The covered period of Chinese history is named after this work.

Comments

Later, the Chunqiu was provided with extensive commentary literature. The most important (because most influential) is probably the commentary by Zuo Qiuming . But the Gongyang commentary was also influential, as it assumed that Confucius had "hidden" the instructions for good governance (an ideal world, so to speak) in Chunqiu.

In Hanshu five comments are enumerated:

  • Commentary by the Zou ( 鄒 氏 傳  /  邹 氏 传 , Zōushì Zhuàn )
  • Commentary of the Jia ( 夾 氏 傳  /  夹 氏 传 , Jiāshi Zhuàn )
  • Commentary by Gongyang ( 公羊 傳  /  公羊 传 , Gōngyáng Zhuàn )
  • Commentary by Guliang ( 穀梁 傳  /  谷梁 传 , Gǔliáng Zhuàn )
  • Commentary by Zuo ( 左氏 傳  /  左氏 传 , Zuǒshi Zhuàn )
