Cilia Flores (* 1953 in Tinaquillo ) is a Venezuelan politician and lawyer. She is currently a member of the PSUV in the Venezuelan National Assembly . From 2006 to 2010 she was its president. She is married to Nicolás Maduro .

As a lawyer, she campaigned for Hugo Chávez's release in 1994. Chavez has been in prison since 1992 for a bloody coup attempt.

criticism

Cilia Flores has been criticized several times by the opposition for alleged nepotism . Several of her close relatives were employed by the National Assembly when she became a MP.

She once stated at the National Assembly, “This is where my family is now employed and I am very proud that they are my relatives. I will defend them as a worker in this National Assembly and I will defend the public competitions. "
