Circle Records was an American record label .

The American label Circle Records was founded in 1946 by Rudi Blesh and Harriet Janis. It existed until 1952 and was then taken over as a sub-label by Jazzology Records ; Big band music from the swing era is published there.

The independent German label of the same name was founded in 1978 by Rudolf Kreis in Cologne and published music by a number of primarily American artists who can be assigned to creative jazz . The first album was the 1976 recorded "Essence" by the Sam Rivers Trio with Joe Daley and Warren Smith ; This was followed by albums by Burton Greene , James Newton , Gil Evans ( Little Wing ), Lee Konitz / Karl Berger , Phillip Wilson , David Murray and his ensemble "Low Class Conspiracy" with Butch Morris , as well as several mostly from Kreis itself in Cologne venues such as Concert recordings of Chet Baker , Archie Shepp and Herb Geller recorded on the Subway . At the end of the 1980s, the label ceased production.

A British label of the same name specializes in psychedelic music from the 1960s and 1970s.
