The Cirrus Aircraft Corporation (formerly Cirrus Aircraft) is an aircraft manufacturer of light aircraft .
history
The company was founded in 1984 by Alan and Dale Klapmeier in Baraboo . The aim was to bring small, affordable and, above all, safe aircraft onto the market. The first aircraft was the VK-30 . This was a kit airplane designed as a pusher .
In 1994 the company moved to Duluth (Minnesota) and started with the development of the first Type-Approved series aircraft equipped with a piston engine and a rescue system equipped SR20 . In 2000, the SR22 was added in several versions. In 2008, the company's first jet turbine aircraft, the SF50 , made its maiden flight, in 2016 it was approved by the FAA and in 2017 by the EASA . In September 2011, Cirrus delivered a total of 5,000. Plane off. More than 3,000 of these are based on the SR22 pattern.
In June 2011, the Cirrus Design Corporation was sold to the Chinese company China Aviation Industry General Aircraft (CAIGA).
