history

The SR20 had its maiden flight on March 21, 1995 and was approved by the FAA in 1998. Hundreds of models have been sold since first delivery in 1999. One of the advantages of the SR20 is that it is equipped with fully digital avionics - a 10-inch primary flight display (Avidyne FlightMax) and a multifunction display. Two Garmin - GNS430 provide GPS Navigation, Radio Navigation and conventional radio link. The SR20 is, as faster and more powerful engines SR22 , with the rescue system Cirrus Aircraft Parachute System (CAPS) equipped, a large parachute which can be deployed in an emergency to the entire aircraft to bring safely to the ground.

On June 1, 2004, the SR20 was the first model to receive the certificate for imported aircraft from the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA).

The third generation of the SR20 (like the SR22) (SR20 G3) is now available. More than 700 changes were made to this, including a completely new wing structure with a carbon spar .

The French Air Force has ordered 13 machines for the training of their navigators, which are to be operated by the company CATS. The machines are stationed in Salon-de-Provence .

The model has been in use since mid-2011 with the 557th Flight Training Squadron (557th FTS) of the US Air Force Academy as a beginner training aircraft under the designation T-53A . The SR20 replaced the leased Diamond Aircraft T-52A there.

The Lufthansa flight school Lufthansa Aviation Training in Arizona is modernizing its fleet and buying 25 new SR20 aircraft
