The City Solar AG was a German solar company based in Bad Kreuznach , specializing in the construction of large-scale solar power plants . City Solar took on the entire project development and organization, starting with the planning, through the acquisition of suitable areas, securing the financing, carrying out the actual construction work via related subcontractors, right up to the operation of the completed power plants. In January 2009, the provisional insolvency was opened at the request of a creditor bank.

history

City Solar was founded in 2003 by the two entrepreneurs Steffen Kammler and Stefan Kasterka. It was founded in order to be able to realize the offer made to Stefan Kasterka to use a free area at Saarbrücken Airport for a solar power plant. Within the next five years the company grew to 150 employees and achieved a turnover of more than 120 million euros in 2008. Since January 2009 the company has been insolvent. The managing director Steffen Kammler was arrested in August 2009. He is accused of systematically withdrawing funds from the company and thus undermining the companies. In April 2010, the Koblenz regional court imposed the managing director Steffen Kammler and another 74-year prison sentence.
