Clément V4
The Clément V4 (1902) was a racing motorcycle designed by the French inventor Adolphe Clément . Along with the Griffon V2 (1902), it is considered to be one of the first multi-cylinder racing motorcycles in the world.
Development and technology
Gustave-Adolphe Clément, the 1902 cc a first small single-cylinder engine with 142 developed, fell so Rey and Louis, "from one extreme to another." In order to successfully take part in circuit racing, developed Clément in the same year, a four-cylinder V-engine 1200 cm³ (further technical data are not known); two V-engines were coupled for this purpose. The machine is said to have reached a speed of 113 km / h or 115 km / h. A carburetor created the mixture, ignition was carried out with the battery and ignition coil, and the primary and secondary power transmission was handled by a chain. Obviously there was no success; later the motor was built into a pacemaker motorcycle for training purposes .
