Griffon V2

The Griffon V2 (1902) was a racing motorcycle made by the French manufacturer Établissements Griffon . Along with the Clément V4 , it is considered to be one of the first multi-cylinder racing motorcycles in the world.

Development and technology

In 1902, when it was founded, Griffon was developing single-cylinder motorcycles for series production; the Griffon V2 was built specifically for speed records. In the reinforced bicycle frame one, the then leader was Zedel related V-engine installed. The air-cooled engine with automatic intake valves and controlled exhaust valves developed 5.5 hp. The secondary power was transmitted to the rear wheel by means of a V-belt; a clutch or gearbox was not provided. The motorcycle is said to have reached a record speed of 105 km / h in Dourdan .
