North London Garage , or NLG for short, was an English manufacturer that produced motorcycles with built-in engines from 1905 to 1912 .

NLG became famous for the first timed speed record for motorcycles on June 16, 1909 by William E. Cook on the Brooklands Railway . With a NLG powered by a Peugeot V - Twin engine with 944 cm³ displacement and belt drive , it reached 122.16 km / h. Also in 1909, Cook drove an NLG powered by a JAP V2 engine, an unofficial record of 144.8 km / h. The engine used with a displacement of 2714 cm³ is still considered the largest of its kind.
