Claire Beyer

Claire Beyer (born July 13, 1947 in Blaichach im Oberallgäu ) is a German writer .

Beyer is a trained banker. She also studied philosophy, sociology and psychology at the AKAD . Her first novel Rauken tells of the childhood of a girl in the post-war years in an authoritarian extended family in the Allgäu .

Beyer also writes poetry, plays and libretti. She lives in Markgröningen . She has received numerous literary prizes for her work, including the Baden-Württemberg State Literature Scholarship and the 2003 Journalist Prize from the Robert Bosch Foundation .

Beyer is a member of the PEN Center Germany .
