Clark Cottage

Clark Cottage is a residential building in the Scottish town of Port Charlotte on the Hebridean island of Islay . The building is on the east side of Main Street at the south end of town. On August 28, 1980, Clark Cottage was added to the Scottish List of Monuments in Category C.

The exact construction time of the building has not been handed down, so that only the early 19th century can be given as the construction period. Clark Cottage is right on the road at the head of a rectangular plot of land that stretches almost two feet to the rocky shoreline of Loch Indaal Bay . Clark Cottage is traditionally built on an area of ​​9 × 10 m 2 . On the ground floor there is a gable roof with two dormers each on the front and back. The roof is covered with slate shingles. The north and east facing facades are plastered using the traditional Harling technique. To the south, Clark Cottage is joined by another two-story building that towers above it. This house called Achnamara is also a listed building.
