Clarry Bartha

Clarry Bartha (* 1956 in Västerås ) is a Swedish - Hungarian opera singer ( soprano ).

Life

Clarry Bartha studied at the Conservatorio Santa Cecilia in Rome with Maria Teresia Pediconi , she received her master class diploma with Giorgio Favaretto at the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia . Bartha continued her studies with Vera Rosza in London . She was the first winner of the international singing competitions Beniamino Gigli and Vincenzo Bellini in Italy .

She made her debut at the Drottningholm Palace Theater in the role of Donna Anna in Mozart's Don Giovanni . These and other Mozart roles such as Fiordiligi, Countess and the First Lady and other roles took her to well-known European opera houses.

She has been invited to the most important opera houses in the world, including the Theater Royal de la Monnaie / Bruxelles, Palais Garnier / Paris, Opera Bastille / Paris, Teatro dell Ópera / Rome, Covent Garden London, Welsh National Opera / Cardiff, Marseille, Montpellier, Nancy, Catania, Stockholm, Bologna, Genoa, La Scala the Milano, Linz, Innsbruck, Berlin, Leipzig, Nuremberg and Düsseldorf.

Her repertoire included operas, oratorios, large symphonic works as well as chamber music.

In collaboration with the important European orchestras, recordings and films were made, including Les Danaides (Salieri, EMI), Guenter von Schwarzburg (Holzbauer, Naxons), Tchaikovskis's women (C. Nupen participation and recording - Director Ashkenazy), RAI Italiana , BBC, Radio France, Sveriges Radio, HR, Bayerischer Rundfunk, NDR and WDR.

The best-known directors included G. Järvefeldt, R. Noelte, G. Vick, D. Alden, N. Brieger, S. Winge, L. Cavani, N. Lehnhof, B. Fassbaender, W. Decker, H. Wernicke, R. Wilson, B. Klimek or C. Nel.

In 2012, after a longer break for personal reasons, she sang Adelaide in Richard Strauss' opera Arabella at the Frankfurt Opera and the Nuremberg Opera.

In 2013, “Brünnhildes Gesang” from Wagner's opera “Götterdämmung” followed in Christchurch New Zealand. This was followed by master classes in Australia / New Zealand. In the same year she made her debut as Kabanicha in L. Janáček's opera Katja Kabanova, directed by Brigitte Fassbaender at the State Theater in Regensburg.

After the death of her husband Prof. Reiner Schmidt (2011) she took over the chairmanship of the jointly founded support group Bronnbach Klassik and was artistic director for the music series Bronnbacher Musikfrühling and Concert at Sunset in Boxberg.

In 2016 she took over the artistic direction of the DEBUT classical opera singing competition for young opera singers. In the same year she was the first woman to receive the Culture Prize of the Main-Tauber District and the Gottlob-Frick Medal for her career as an opera singer and her work as the artistic director of DEBUT.

A matter close to the heart of Clarry Bartha is the support and promotion of young musicians and the voluntary work in the Walldürn Hospice. She has two children.
