Clas Ohlson is an international retail company. It was founded in 1918 as a mail order company in Insjön , Sweden .
Today the company offers sales and service in around 200 stores in Sweden, Norway, Finland, Great Britain, the United Arab Emirates and Germany and e-commerce. Clas Ohlson sells products in the home, home improvement, electrical, multimedia and leisure sectors.

history
Clas Ohlson (1895–1979) founded his mail order company Clas Ohlson & Co in 1918. He was interested in technology and began selling technical manuals. On June 30, 1989, the first Clas Ohlson store opened outside Insjön, in Stockholm city center. The first branch outside of Sweden opened on August 26, 1991 in Oslo (Norway).
Clas Ohlson was listed on the Stockholm Stock Exchange on October 5, 1999 . The first branch in Finland was opened on November 14, 2002 in Helsinki. Expansion into the UK began with the opening of the first store in Croydon in south-west London on November 27, 2008. Clas Ohlson's first franchise branch opened on April 30, 2014 in Dubai, the first branch in Germany on May 19, 2016 in Hamburg. In December 2018, the company announced the closure of all German and almost all British branches for 2019 due to a lack of profitability.
The company has set up a museum in Insjön.
