Classics IV
The Classics IV was an American pop group from the 1960s.
The quintet was founded in 1967 by Dennis Yost in Detroit / Michigan , USA . In the same year they got a record deal with Imperial Records and had their first big hit with Spooky .
After the songwriter and composer James R. Cobb left the formation in 1968, the band was called "Classics IV Featuring Dennis Yost". Under this name they achieved two more hits: Stormy, which, although only number 5 on the Billboard Hot 100 , even achieved gold status , and Traces, with number 2 the highest-ranked title in the band.
In 1969 they changed their name again - this time to "Dennis Yost and the Classics IV". The success faded and in 1975 they had their last top 100 hit with My first day without . James R. Cobb and Dean Daughtry and their producer Buddy Buie were already members of the Atlanta Rhythm Section at the time .
All of their chart successes, except for the last, were written by Buddy Buie and James R. Cobb.
