Claude-Christophe Gourdan
Charles Claude Christophe Gourdan (born November 2, 1754 in Champlitte (today in the Haute-Saône department ), † November 10, 1804 there ) was a parliamentarian of the French Revolution and founder of the Jacobins .
Life
Gourdan was a member of the Third Estate and as such from February 21 to March 7, 1793 chairman of the National Assembly . After the deposition of King Louis XVI. In 1792 Gourdan voted for his execution in early 1793.
He later became a member of the Council of 500 , and later a member of the Council of Elders, of which he became president.
Gourdan, who was in opposition to Robespierre and Napoleon , withdrew into private life in the last years of his life and concentrated on his mandate as a city councilor.
