Claudius Amyand

Claudius Amyand (* 1680 in Paris ; † July 6, 1740 ) was a French surgeon .

Life

He was a surgeon in the English army and the British King George II. In 1716 he became a Fellow of the Royal Society . In 1735 Amyand managed the first successful appendectomy (appendectomy) at St. George's Hospital in London .
