Claus Jensen (organ builder)

Claus Jensen (* around 1817 in Schleswig-Holstein ; † 1892 ) is considered the most important organ builder in Norway. Many of his symphonic organs, committed to the romantic tradition, have remained playable to the present day without restoration and are in their original condition. Around 1837 he came to Norway, where his first organ was built for the Kreuzkirche in Bergen . He built other large organs in u. a. in Brønnøysund (Brønnøy kirke), Christiania (Trefoldighetskirken), Trondheim (1889, Ilen kirke), Arendal (Bjorbekk kirke), Drammen and Tromsø ( Tromsø domkirke ).
