Clean House ( English for "clean house") is a reality show ( makeover show ) on American television. The theme of the show is the deployment of a tidying and interior design team in the household of a family that can no longer cope with the clutter and junk in their home.

The show, whose individual episodes are approximately 45 minutes long, is produced by the Los Angeles- based cable television company The Style Network and has been aired since September 3, 2003.

Plot and actor

The show is hosted by comedian Niecy Nash , who was introduced to American television audiences from the comedy series Reno 911! is known. The members of their team are the “design guru” Mark Brunetz, the “yard sale diva” Trish Suhr and the “go-to-guy” (craftsman) Matt Iseman.

Each show begins with the team visiting a family that has lost control of their household and has accumulated overwhelming amounts of junk in their house and garage. The first phase of the clean-up is to sort out the things that are no longer needed and are to be sold in order to make room and to find the money to redesign the messiest rooms yet. One of the recurring stations of the show is the resistance of family members who initially do not want to part with their useless things that have become dearly loved. The second phase is the yard sale ( better known in Germany as the garage sale ), in which the discarded items are sold in front of the house like at a private flea market . What is left over as unsalable is picked up by a charity. In the third phase, selected rooms are renovated and redesigned. The end of each episode is the reception of the family members in the completely tidy house, which they are not allowed to see while working.

The psychopathology (" messie syndrome "), which is obviously characteristic of those affected, is generally not explicitly discussed in the show.
