Clearpath
The Clearpath is a synonym for mainframe systems from Unisys , which are mainly used in the banking, logistics and military sectors. These computers are primarily used when high computing requirements and high data throughput are required within a computer architecture.
The mainframes have the option of running different operating systems side by side (parallel). The processors can be dynamically assigned to the operating systems. The hardware allows processors and input / output channels to be assigned in segments to the respective operating systems running in parallel. Furthermore, the hardware allows dynamic allocation of processors during operation. If a processor fails, processors that are not in use can take over the work of the failed processor.
Supported operating systems are
- Windows 2000 / 2003
- OS2200 (mainframe (UNIVAC) operating systems from Unisys )
- MCP ( Master Control Program of Burroughs Corporation )
- Red Hat Linux
- Suse Linux
- SCO UnixWare
The expression Clearpath is the series designation, within this product line two forms of the mainframe product emerge.
Systems with OS2200 support
The OS2200 is an operating system that runs on a special processor. OS2200 guarantees backward compatibility with older programs that were compiled on the previous series . The OS2200 goes back to the UNIVAC 1100/2200 product line from Sperry .
Systems with MCP support - Master Control Program
The term MCP comes from the Burroughs - B5000 product line. The MCP is the operating system of the Burroughs line. The term Master Control Program also inspired the directors of the film Tron .
hardware
CMP architecture (Cellular Multiprocessing)
Allows the assignment of processors to operating systems . B. assign four processors to a Linux system and four processors to a Windows system in parallel. The processors are hot swap; this means that further processors can be assigned to a system at runtime.

OS2200
OS2200 is an operating system that goes back to the UNIVAC 1100/2200 series.
The latest version of the OS22000 offers support in these areas
