Clemens Fankhauser (born September 2, 1985 ) is an Austrian cyclist .

Athletic career

Fankhauser was third in the 2006 Austrian U23 championship in road racing and second in the time trial. The next year he became a professional with the Professional Continental Team Elk Haus-Simplon . In his first year there he won the Grand Prix Austria Alu Guss and the Braunauer Radsporttage . He finished third again in the U23 road race of the championship and won a stage at the Grand Prix Tell .

In 2012 Fankhauser won the Tour of Vojvodina II. Two years later, he secured overall victory in the Irish cycling race An Post Rás and was second in the overall rankings of the Tour of Serbia and the Baltic Chain Tour . In 2015 he left his previous team Tirol Cycling for one season and switched to Team Hrinkow Advarics Cycleang . That year he won the Romanian race Tour of Szeklerland . In 2016 he returned to Tirol Cycling and won An Post Rás for the second time .

In 2018, Clemens Fankhauser did not receive a new contract with Tirol Cycling , as the team wanted to concentrate on promoting U23 riders. It was unclear whether he wanted to continue his sports career.
