Clemens Morgenthaler

Clemens Morgenthaler (* 1973 in Wertheim am Main) is a German bass baritone .

Life

Clemens Morgenthaler was born in Wertheim / Main. After graduating from high school, he studied church music and singing at the Freiburg University of Music . He completed his subsequent postgraduate studies at the Music Academy of the City of Basel in the concert class of Kurt Widmer and with Gerard Wyss (song class) in 2003 with distinction. He took master classes a. a. with Andreas Schmidt, Ulf Bästlein, Charles Spencer and Rudolf Piernay. He owes essential impulses to the cooperation with Prof. Beata Heuer-Christen.

His repertoire includes literature from early baroque to modern.

Opera engagements, world premieres, CD, television and radio recordings (DLF, SWR, DRS, ORF) as well as numerous concerts in Germany and abroad, where he worked with renowned conductors, directors, orchestras, choirs and pianists, document his artistic activity. Concert tours have taken him to almost every country in Europe. He sang in numerous domes and cathedrals as well as in concert halls such as the Berlin Philharmonie, the Konzerthaus Berlin, the Festspielhaus Bregenz, the Philharmonie Krakow and the Liederhalle Stuttgart.

Clemens Morgenthaler is a scholarship holder of the Richard Wagner Foundation and winner of the Liedkunst-Contest, Husum. In 2008 he won first prize at the Podium JungerGesangsSolisten. In 2008 he was awarded the 2nd prize and the special "Oratorio" prize at the "Musica Sacra" international singing competition in Rome.

Since 2004 he has been teaching singing at the State University for Music Trossingen . Clemens Morgenthaler has been professor for singing at the Vorarlberg State Conservatory Feldkirch since 2010.
