Cleomedes is a large impact crater on the northeastern front of the moon on the northern edge of the Mare Crisium , south of the Burckhardt crater . The inside of the crater is relatively flat, except for several secondary craters, a central mountain and a ridge running in a northeastern direction , the Rima Cleomedes . The crater wall is terraced.

The crater was officially named by the IAU in 1935 after the Greek astronomer Cleomedes .
