Travel smart! is the title of a German-language travel magazine. It has been published quarterly in Germany , Austria and Switzerland by Markt Control Multimedia Verlag since 1986 . Up until April 16, 2003, the travel magazine was initially entitled to fly & save . The issue deals with tourism topics with a focus on the consumer . The focus is on air travel . The content is supplemented by cruises , train, bus and car trips.

The travel magazine offers its readers, among other things, news from the tourism industry , recommendations on travel destinations, price comparisons, tips and tricks as well as test reports on travel service providers and their products. One issue currently comprises 116 pages. An online branch of the magazine has existed since 1999 under the domain nameiegen-sparen.de .

The magazine is subject to circulation controls by the IVW.

The readers of Clever Reisen! are 60% male and 40% female. The average age is 48.5 years. 25.5% of the readers are freelancers or self-employed, 21% work as executive employees , a further 33% are simple employees and civil servants and 20.5% are retired.

Further data underline that the target group mainly belongs to the middle class. According to our own regular reader analysis from October 2008, the average travel budget of a reader is 3200 euros. 41.5% travel twice a year with a duration of at least 6 days, a further 36.4% undertake three or more vacation trips per year. More than half of the readers, 52.6%, prefer hotels of the upper middle class.
