Climate Change Coalition

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Climate Change Coalition (CCC) is a party from Australia that was founded in 2006 to put pressure on the major political parties with regard to global warming . The CCC works on solving the problem of climate change in cooperation with large companies. In this way, the party ensures close cooperation between commercial enterprises and environmentalists. The CCC was registered by the Australian Electoral Commission in September 2007 for the federal election of the same year.

Election results

First choice

Initially, the Climate Change Coalition was not intended as a political party, but as a grouping of different politicians to solve the problem. The first election participation was for the CCC in New South Wales in March 2007 at the state level. 21 candidates from the party ran for the House of Lords. This group was led by Patrice Newell , author and organic farmer himself. Due to its strict interpretation of environmental issues, this coalition was heavily criticized by the other parties.

Since they were not yet part of the electoral system as a party, they were not allowed to run under their own name. The 21 "Group F" candidates got 18,999 votes together or 0.50% of the vote. They clearly missed the 4.55% required for a successful election, which may also have been due to the unusual election name.

Federal election 2007

On September 4, 2007, the party was officially registered by the Electoral Commission.

The NSW Senate candidates were Patrice Newell and Dr. Karl Kruszelnicki , a well-known scientist and media representative.

With the official name on the ballot papers, only half a year later, 0.83% of the votes in NSW were won without, however, successfully leading a candidate through the election. In the other states, the results ranged from 0.27% (in Western Australia ) to 0.78% (in Victoria ). Nationwide, the party won 78,710 votes (0.62%).
