history

Dixi was founded in Le Locle in 1904 and originally manufactured special machines for the watch industry, including high-precision center punching machines with an accuracy of 0.01 millimeters. The company then specialized in precision mechanics for various industrial applications.

In 1946 Dixi took over the precision tool manufacturer PAQSA and integrated it completely. With that Dixi began her expansion and takeover phase. In 1959, Dixi acquired Cylindre SA, which was founded in 1924. In 1960, Marksa SA, founded in 1935, was taken over.

With the takeover of the watch manufacturer Buhré in 1963, Dixi entered the watch business directly. When the Swiss watch industry was gripped by a serious crisis in the mid-1970s , Paul Castella, as the owner of Dixi, tried to prevent the final demise of several bankrupt watch manufacturers. In 1978, Dixi took over the watch manufacturer Zenith (sold to LVMH in 1999 ) and in 1979 the two brands Zodiac and H. Moser & Cie , whose demise Paul Castella could not prevent.

The expansion of the Dixi group of companies continued from the 1990s, followed by the acquisitions of Dixi Frama (1992), Polytool (1999), Dixi UK (2000) and the German diamond tool manufacturer DIAWE (2004).

In 2007, Dixi sold its subsidiary Dixi Machines SA , which specializes in the manufacture of ultra-high-precision machines, to the Japanese machine tool manufacturer DMG Mori Seiki Co.

The company is privately owned by the Castella family and does not publish business figures.
