A club bus is a coach whose length is well below the dimensions of normal coaches. The body is either based on the normal length touring coach from the same manufacturer or it is a visually independent body on the chassis of a small truck .

The name comes from a vehicle model made by the Bückeburg coachbuilder Hermann Harmening . From 1954 to 1961, it produced a small touring coach called the "Club Bus". He had a self-supporting body , six rows of seats and a Henschel - diesel engine with 63 kW (85 hp). However, the model only came in small numbers.

On the other hand, one of his imitators, the so-called “Little Setra” S 6 from Kässbohrer from 1955, was much more successful. His successors, the Setra S 80 , the S 208 H , S 309 HD , S 411 HD and the currently offered S 511 HD are widely used. The Magirus-Deutz R81 was worth mentioning and the Teamstar bodies based on the Mercedes-Benz T2 and Clubstar on truck chassis from Auwärter .

After being taken out of service by bus companies, many club buses have been converted into mobile homes .
